Victor Hillaert has an impressive and diverse professional history that blends athletics with healthcare. He launched his career as a professional baseball player for the Texas Rangers, competing from 1999 to 2004, before making a significant shift to nursing. Between 2011 and 2012, he served as an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse at Atlantic General Hospital.
During his baseball career, Victor also took on the responsibilities of Owner and Director of Baseball Operations at High Heat Baseball Club, a position he held from 2001 to 2014. His nursing career gained momentum when he became an RN Supervisor for the State of Maryland from 2013 to 2016. He later specialized in gastroenterology as a Nurse Practitioner under Jerrold Canakis, MD, in 2016.
Victor further enhanced his nursing expertise by working as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Urgent Care at Choptank Community Health System from 2016 to 2019. He then moved to CORAS Wellness and Behavioral Health, where he served in a similar capacity from 2019 to 2021, contributing to Delaware’s largest Intensive Outpatient Program for addiction. His career progressed at BrightView, where he held the position of Addiction and Family Medical Lead from 2021 to 2022. Before joining Rising Lotus Recovery, he served as the Nurse Practitioner-Addiction Medical Director at Avenues Recovery Center.
Academically, Victor has a robust foundation in nursing and biology. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Salisbury University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Additionally, he completed a Master’s degree in Nursing with a focus on Family Practice at Wilmington University between 2013 and 2015. This rich and varied background highlights Victor’s dedication and adaptability throughout the ever-changing healthcare field.
